Candidates
Sinéad Burke
Sinéad Burke is a mother of one and hails from Dunmoe in the Slane area. Sinéad has been a key member of Meath Sinn Féin over the last seven years. She works as the editor of a national magazine. Sinéad has vast experience of the voluntary and community sector in Meath, including the Stackallen Boyne Action Group, director of Navan Educate Together Primary School and a director of a soon to be built Affordable Childcare Facility.
Speaking at the selection convention, Sinéad said "As a young mother I am all too aware of the difficulties facing young families in Meath. I have extensive experience in delivering primary school education, affordable childcare and affordable housing. I have also played a central roll in Sinn Féin's campaign to protect services at Our Lady's Hospital. Meath and the Slane electoral area in particular has grown extensively over the last decade. However, while developers have made millions it has left many families scrapping together to meet the mortgage while living in areas with poor infrastructure, transportation, schools, playgrounds and parks. Many of the councillor's who regularly show up for photo opportunities when new facilities are being opened ten years too late are the very people who had the opportunity to build such infrastructure into planning laws and ensure that infrastructure was built in conjunction with homes, rather than decades later."
